  • Piracy – Why Shouldn’t You?

    There’s a request I keep getting regularly. It comes in different shapes and forms but the gist is always the same. Here’s an example of an email I received:

    “I began with the program Logic pro X. But i have a problem: I want to get some plug ins for this program, i’d like to get it for free, because buying it is too expensive for me at the moment,
    so i like to download it, but it’s so hard to find it…

    I need the following plug ins:

    [followed by a list of paid plugins]”

    Now, ethics aside, there is something quite big at play here that I want to address. Something that is especially difficult to understand when you’re first starting out in music. (more…)

    Softube Console 1 Review

    The Softube Console 1 has greatly intrigued me ever since it first came out in early 2014.

    Part of the fun in making music for me is honing my workflow and experimenting with different tools and processes.

    The Console 1 is a new generation mixer that combines hands on workflow and analog modeled sound with software that integrates neatly into your DAW.

    How would the Console 1 work for an electronic music geek like myself? I decided to jump in and find out.

  • Maschine MK1 vs MK2 – Review of Differences

    The Native Instruments Maschine MK1 vs MK2 debate is running hot. I recently acquired the MK2 myself. I’ve been using the Maschine MK1 model for about 8 months and liked it a lot.

    A lot of people are contemplating on wether to upgrade to MK2 or not. The MK2 is currently priced at 599 € by Native Instruments. It’s a lot of money to spend on an upgrade that may seem superficial on the surface.
